Built for trans members

What a trans dating site owes you.

There is a difference between a dating site that permits trans members and one built around them, and it is not a difference you can see from the landing page. It shows up in what the free account does, who the privacy settings were designed to protect, and what happens the first time somebody behaves badly towards you.

This page sets out what we think a trans dating site actually owes its members, and what Transdatez does about each of those obligations. Where something costs money, it says so.

The chaser problem is a design problem

Ask trans women why they abandoned the last platform and you will rarely hear about missing features. You hear about the inbox: the same three questions, arriving constantly, from people who read the profile as a category rather than a person.

That is usually treated as an unfortunate fact of the internet. It is not. It is a design outcome. When there is no cost to behaving badly, no record that follows an account around, and no realistic prospect of a report being read, the behaviour is precisely what the system is built to produce.

So the conduct machinery here got the same attention as the matching machinery. Every member carries a community rating that other members can see before replying. Reports go to a person. Public rooms have admins in them. None of that eliminates the problem, but it changes the incentives, which is the only thing that ever has.

A free account that is actually an account

Classic costs nothing, permanently, and it is not a trial with the clock hidden. You can build a profile, verify it, browse the whole membership, work the Meet Me deck, match with people, post in the community Spaces and read the Magazine without ever entering a card.

What Classic limits is throughput: how many messages and matches you get through in a day. That cap is how the business works and we would rather state it plainly than pretend otherwise. VIP raises it, adds the advanced filters, shows you everyone who has liked you and includes three Super Matches a week.

What we do not do is show you a locked inbox implying somebody is waiting. If a number appears on your profile, it is a real number, and you can find out who it refers to without paying to discover it was decorative.

Deciding who can see you

Privacy in this category is not a premium feature, because the people who need it most are frequently the people least able to pay for it. Everything in this section is available on the free tier.

Incognito keeps you out of search while leaving friends and VIP members able to reach you, and it is what most members who are not out settle on. Explicit pictures land blurred, and revealing one is your call — or you switch them off and they stop arriving. Nobody ever sees your legal name or your email address.

Billing appears under a neutral descriptor with no reference to dating or to this site, and you see the exact wording on the payment screen before confirming. Nothing is ever posted to your social accounts, and there is no feature that could do so even if somebody asked us to build one.

A profile in your own words

Gender here is a field you fill in, not a menu of two options plus a shrug. Set the pronouns you use. Write the description in whatever terms are true rather than picking the nearest approximation from a list somebody else wrote.

If the blank box is the part you dread, the bio quiz asks a short run of questions and drafts a headline and bio from the answers. Nothing publishes until you have read it and every line stays editable, so it functions as a starting point rather than a substitute.

Looking For tags carry your intentions around for you — relationship, casual, friendship, online only — which means you stop having the same clarifying conversation with every new match. Interests feed the matching and give strangers something specific to open with.

Verification, and why it is worth two minutes

Nobody is required to verify. Plenty of members never do. It remains the highest-return two minutes available on the site, because verified profiles see roughly fifteen times the interaction of unverified ones.

The badge does three things. It gets you into rooms that unverified accounts cannot enter, it includes you when somebody filters their search for real people, and it makes catfishing structurally difficult rather than merely against the rules. You can verify by photo or by ID, whichever you are more comfortable with.

ID verification is separately required before anyone can upload explicit media. That is deliberate: unsolicited images from anonymous accounts are the thing members complain about most, and the simplest fix is to make anonymity and explicit content mutually exclusive.

Finding people, more than one way

Some people want a deck to flick through. Some want a search form with thirty fields. Both are here, and neither is treated as the main event with the other bolted on afterwards.

The Meet Me deck is one card at a time, close to you, with pass, like, super-match, message and a rewind for the one you regret. Advanced search starts with one-tap filters for Verified, Online Now and Top Rated and then narrows by age, distance, appearance, lifestyle, background and intentions.

The discovery feed is the slower route and frequently the better one. It shows what people near you are posting, which means conversations can start from something that was said rather than from a photograph. The matching algorithm sits underneath all of it, weighing distance, interests, stated goals and member ratings — and paying as much attention to what you pass on as to what you like.

Somewhere to be besides an inbox

Spaces are interest-based sub-communities: LGBTQIA+, meetups and events, transition and support, photos and video, dating advice, style, debate and general. Members post, argue, organise and occasionally win VIP time in contests.

This matters more than it sounds. A dating site that is only a search index gives you nothing to do on the evenings when you do not feel like being on a dating site, and nothing to talk about when you are. The Magazine runs alongside with articles, polls and safety writing.

Safety, day to day

Scam and fake-account detection runs constantly in the background. Incoming messages are screened for links and contact details, because that is how essentially every scam opens — the request to move to another app arrives early and it arrives for a reason. VIP members who find the screening fussy can switch it off.

Any profile can be reported anonymously in two taps, from a profile or from a message thread, and the report is read by somebody. Blocking is immediate and does not notify the person blocked.

Support runs around the clock on phone, live chat and ticket, with a help centre behind it. Group and private chat both happen inside the site, so nobody needs your phone number in order to talk to you.

The paperwork, in the open

Transdatez runs on HubPeople, a dating platform provider that works to industry Trust & Safety practice alongside the ODDA rather than to a standard of its own invention. The whole product runs in five languages — English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish — not merely the pages built to be found by search engines.

Terms, Privacy, Consent, Cookies, Complaints & Content Removal, Modern Slavery and our Safety Standards & Child Protection policy are all published rather than available on request. If a policy is worth having it is worth reading before you sign up.

Leaving whenever you want

You can export everything you have given us, withdraw consent, or delete the account outright, all from settings, at whatever hour you happen to decide. None of it requires emailing anybody or explaining yourself to a retention team.

This is stated plainly because the alternative is so common. A great many sites make joining a two-minute job and leaving a fortnight-long negotiation. That asymmetry is a choice, and it tells you what the operator thinks the relationship is.

What we do not do

We do not generate profiles, and there is no automated messaging designed to make the site feel busier than it is. We do not sell privacy settings that exist to protect vulnerable members. We do not post anywhere on your behalf.

We also do not claim the site is bigger than it is. Trans women are comfortably the largest group here. Trans men are a smaller community, and you deserve to know that before signing up rather than after a fortnight of quiet — though a thinner field also means considerably less competition.

Your first week, in order

Start with three or four pictures, one of them a clear unfiltered shot of your face. Either write the bio yourself or run the quiz and then fix the half that reads like somebody else. Fill the Looking For tags in truthfully — and if the truthful answer is that you have not decided, that is a valid entry.

Verify. Then spend a day in the feed and the Spaces before touching the deck, because it is much easier to message somebody when there is already something to refer to. After that, work whichever surface suits you and give it a fortnight before drawing conclusions.

Common questions

Questions people ask us.

Is the free account genuinely free?

Yes, permanently. Profile, verification, browsing, the deck, matching and posting in Spaces are all included. Classic caps how many messages and matches you get through in a day; VIP lifts the caps. Nothing is charged unless you upgrade.

Can I join if I am not trans myself?

No. Trans women, trans men and non-binary members are here alongside cis members who want to date them, and the site would not work without both. You set how you identify at sign-up and can change it later.

What appears on my bank statement?

A neutral descriptor that mentions neither dating nor this site. The exact wording is shown on the payment screen before you confirm anything.

Can I use the site without appearing in search?

Yes. Incognito takes you out of search results while leaving you reachable by friends and VIP members. It is available on the free tier, as are image blurring and the neutral card descriptor.

Someone near you is looking as well.

Two minutes gets you a profile and a look at who is around tonight.
